The Maulin Scenic Area has a variety of landscapes. The Laonung river and Chokou river flow through the area and have formed a unique natural landscape with meandering creeks, geoges, falls, and hot springs. The human side of the Maulin Scenic Area includes tunnels, temples, suspension bridge and aborigine culture. At present the Maulin Scenic Area has two tourist routes. The Paolai route takes in the Paolai and Forever Young hot springs, whereas the Maulin-Taching route includes locations such as Maulin and Tona. Both routes have been developed into leisure areas with mountain recreation features.
